With so much demand in recent years for big SUVs and full-sized trucks, many manufacturers are abandoning many of their car models, especially the smaller ones. Fortunately, the 2024 Nissan Versa is not only exceptionally budget-friendly but also stylish and filled with many highly coveted standard features. It didn’t just make Car and Driver’s 2024 Editors’ Choice list; the Versa was placed at the top of the magazine’s Best Subcompact Cars list.

Reasons Why You’ll Love the 2024 Nissan Versa

The Versa is a four-door subcompact sedan that seats five people, so you’ll have no problem carpooling to work, picking up the kids at school, or zipping into even the tightest parking spaces. The attractive exterior makes it look like a smaller version of Nissan’s extremely well-liked mid-sized Altima. The interior is every bit as nice, featuring quality materials and lovely soft touches on the doors and dashboard.

Performance

All 2024 Versa trim levels come with a 1.6-liter 4-cylinder engine that delivers 122 hp and 114 lb-ft of torque. However, while an XTRONIC Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) is standard in all the higher trims, some drivers will love having the 5-speed manual transmission that is standard in the base model.

Fuel efficiency is excellent throughout the entire Versa line. It’s estimated at 27 mpg in the city and 35 mpg out on the highway with the manual transmission models. The other trims should average 32 mpg on city streets and 40 mpg on highways.

Technology

There’s no reason affordable small cars can’t have the same up-to-date technology other models have. Nissan has provided all the components necessary to be productive and entertained even on the Versa’s lowest trim. A 4-speaker audio system, a 7-inch touchscreen display, and three USB ports are all standard.

You’ll also have wireless connectivity via Bluetooth for audio streaming, hands-free calling, and allowing you access to all your favorite content and apps on your phone. Road trips, commuting, and even running errands will be a lot more fun with your playlists, podcasts, and audiobooks. Android Auto compatibility and Apple CarPlay integration are available in the optional S+ Pacage for the second-level Versa S CVT trim and standard on the higher trims.

Safety

There’s no question about the 2024 Versa’s safety. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has awarded it a perfect 5-star overall safety rating. Also, Nissan has installed a very impressive selection of standard drier’s aid and safety features even on the line’s lowest trim level, such as:

  • Brake Assist
  • Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection Mitigation and Prevention
  •  Rear Automatic Braking Mitigation
  • Lane Departure Warning
  • Hill Start Assist
