Nissan Safety Shield 360 is a suite of safety features included in every Nissan. These systems protect you while driving as they will identify possible threats and warn you so you can take action and prevent an accident. As your Nissan dealership, we want to tell you about how some of these systems work.

From Your Nissan Dealership: 5 Advanced Safety Features in the 2025 Nissan Lineup

High Beam Assist2025 Nissan Altima Infotainment System | Vancouver, WA

This system uses sonar sensors that detect other vehicle’s headlights or tail lights. The lights will instantly switch to low beams if a light source is detected. Once the light source leaves the sensor’s field of vision, the lights will switch back to high beams.

Lane Departure Warning

This feature uses a forward-facing camera to identify the lane line markings and road edge markers. Once these lines are detected, the system works to keep your Nissan in the lane center. If the camera detects you’re about to cross a line boundary and aren’t actively steering, you’ll receive audio and visual warnings. These warnings give you enough time to turn back into your lane.

Blind Spot Warning

Blind spots are dangerous, as you can’t see if a vehicle enters one. If you’re about to change lanes, a vehicle could suddenly appear from a blind spot, giving you little time to avoid a collision. This system takes the stress out of lane changes, as it uses sonar sensors that watch all the blind spots. The sensors will spot any vehicle, and you’ll hear a warning chime while a warning icon will appear on the corresponding side mirror. This gives you enough time to prevent an accident.

Automatic Emergency Braking w/Pedestrian Detection

This system uses radar and a camera to identify any vehicle or pedestrian in front of you. The radar will measure the distance between your bumper and the object and assess if you’re closing too fast. If a collision risk exists, you receive visual and audio warnings to take action. These warnings rise in intensity if the distance continues to close.

If you don’t brake or take other action to avert an accident, the system applies hard braking to almost instantly stop your Nissan. Emergency braking can prevent an accident or reduce the damage it causes.

Rear Automatic Braking

When you shift into reverse, this system activates. It uses rear sonar sensors to identify objects behind your vehicle. It’s very useful for identifying smaller objects close to the ground that wouldn’t be seen through the rearview mirror. If an object is detected, you receive warning alerts. If you don’t hit the brakes, the system will apply emergency braking to stop your vehicle.
