Understanding Your Nissan’s Warranty: What’s Included

Every Nissan is protected by a comprehensive range of warranties covering almost every system and component. These warranties protect you if any flaw related to the labor or materials is discovered. We’ll take you on a dive into your warranty coverage so you can see the protection you receive under your 2024 Nissan warranty.

Nissan Warranty Coverage

Basic Coverage

This warranty covers all your Nissan’s components and systems except those protected by the other warranties below. Coverage applies for the first three years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. This coverage is transferrable if you sell your Nissan during the warranty period, provided it’s not sold within the first six months or registered outside the US.

Some damage situations are not covered by warranty, including unauthorized repairs, the use of unauthorized parts, and any damage caused by lack of proper maintenance. All these excluded circumstances are listed in your warranty booklet. Some components and systems covered by this warranty have reduced durations, and they are explained below.

Adjustment Coverage

Adjustments are any alterations or repairs that don’t require replacement parts. Examples of adjustments are wheel balancing and wheel alignment. Any required adjustments are provided at no charge for the first year or 12,000 miles.

Refrigerant Recharge Only Coverage

If your refrigerant needs a recharge, this is provided free for one year and unlimited mileage. After this, the refrigerant will be replaced at no cost if provided as part of a Basic Coverage warranty repair.

Wiper Blade Inserts Limited Coverage

The original wiper blade inserts are covered for six months and unlimited mileage.

Powertrain Coverage

This warranty covers many of your Nissan’s most complex and expensive systems, including your engine, transmission, transaxle, drivetrain, and restraint systems. Coverage applies for five years or 60,000 miles. All parts of these systems are protected, although some exceptions apply, and these are explained in your warranty handbook.

Perforation Coverage

Perforation is corrosion that forms a hole penetrating metal from one side to the other. All metal components in your Nissan are protected against rust and corrosion by specialized coatings applied during manufacture. These coatings don’t require reapplication unless the body metal is damaged in an accident.

If perforation appears despite this protection, the affected metal section will be replaced at no change. Coverage applies for five years and unlimited mileage.

California Vehicle Emission Control Warranties

Washington subscribes to the California Air Resources Board regulations regarding emissions control. Emissions are the dangerous, toxic gases produced by combustion, and your emissions control system converts these gases into less harmful ones before they’re forced out the tailpipe.

Your emissions control systems are covered for three years or 50,000 miles. Certain emissions components, listed in your warranty handbook, are covered for seven years or 70,000 miles.
